There are hundreds of quality schools in Central Jersey, and several prestigious private schools including the Pingry School in Martinsville, NJ, includes former Attorney Generals and several people from the Forbes 400 list and is ranked as the best high school in New Jersey. Other highly praised Central Jersey schools include Immaculata High School in Somerville, NJ; Bridgewater-Raritan High School, and the best High School football team in the United States, Piscataway High School. The area is also home to several quality universities and colleges, including Ivy-league Princeton University, the official state school Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ, which also contains St. Peters University. Raritan Valley Community College, in Branchburg, is home to one of the top-ranked nursing programs in the country. Several medical schools are contained within the area, including the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Other universities in the area include Monmouth University, Middlesex County Community College, and Devry University.

All of Central Jersey’s counties rank among the highest income counties in the United States, in no small part to the local economy. In addition to the large retail presence, several companies call New Jersey home, including pharmaceutical leaders Bristol-Myers Squibb, Novartis, Johnson and Johnson, and Merck, as well as industry leaders like Verizon Wireless, AT&T/Vonage, Avaya, Dow Jones & Company, Merrill Lynch, Prudential, United Parcel Service, Siemens AG, Aetena, Amerada Hess, and many other local, national, and international business leaders.

Central New Jersey boasts many shopping centers, the most popular of which include the Bridgewater Commons Mall, Woodbridge Shopping Center, Menlo Park Mall, Flemington Outlets, and Freehold Raceway Mall. Several retailers have locations spread out across Central Jersey, including Best Buy, Circuit City, Costco, Wal-Mart, Target, Bed Bath and Beyond, Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, JC Penny, Sears, and many others. In addition many restaurants are located in the area, including Applebee’s, Friday’s, The Cheesecake Factory, Chili’s, P.F Chang’s, McCormick and Schmidt’s, as well as many local restaurants – including many diners open all the time with great food that are a trademark of New Jersey and some of the best pizza in the country.

While New Jersey isn’t usually recognized for it’s natural beauty, there’s no lack of it. Towns like Branchburg and Alexandria contain many farms, forests and vibrant wildlife. Several parks are located around the area, as well as Allaire State Park in Farmingdale. In the summer, it’s not unlike to see corn and tomatoes growing over large area – we’re nicknamed the Garden State for a reason!

Central Jersey is usually considered the area between Philadelphia and New York, and contains the state capital, Trenton, as well as the highest income-per-capita cities in New Jersey. Several successful people such as Bruce Springsteen, Jack Nicholson, Jon Bon Jovi, Jon Stewart and Joe Theismann all come from Central Jersey Roots!
